Newsprint

Wow so it's been much longer than I said I would be posting. Sadly, I forgot to scan this at school... so I had to take a pic of it to upload it, lol.  Anywho, here is my scrap of the day:

More to come, swear!

Collage

For my first post I'm going to go ahead and post one of my favorite collage projects to date. My desk!

Before

After :]

A much needed face lift wouldn't you agree? The wood detailing was sanded, primed and spray painted black. It took two coats for it to look even, about 3.5 cans of black paint, it took me a total of two days to find the right images to work with. Most all the images came from fashion mags, but a few advertisements I use in are from time magazine. Also, the once ugly brass fixtures were spray painted this lovely silver. I should have used some sort of metal primer or something, cause they have already started to chip, but since the desk has some superficial dents and chips underneath the black paint I think the small amount of chipping gives it a nice rustic feel (good excuse right?, haha).

It only took me about a day to complete this project, aside from cutting out and compiling the images of course, since I clip and store anything I see and like it’s impossible to honestly say how long it took me to find the images, but I did make a conscious decision to being compiling images specifically for the purpose of this project about a week in advance.

All in all I had sooo much fun doing this project (except for hauling it up & down the stairs! lol). I loved throwing all my little clippings onto the floor and just thinking "how am I going to make this work?" haha. I honestly do very little planning when I collage, I have a rough idea of what I want to do, but even then once I get a rough unglued collage laid down to be glued it still ends up getting moved around and altered. As corny as it sounds, I just like to go with the flow!
More collage pictures and photography to come ;]
